Nottingham Forest facing legal action over millions of overdue payments

Forest owe millions of pounds to both players and agents

As revealed by the Daily Mail, several players who left the club at the end of last season were due to be paid their bonuses at the end of July but they are all still waiting.

They've now reported that a number of those involved are considering legal action, which could result in winding up petitions being issued against the club. If Forest continue to delay these payments, the Reds could face serious punishment.

Last season Forest signed 30 players throughout the course of both transfers windows, leaving them with a mountain of agents fees to pay.

Those who are still at the club are expected to receive their bonuses at the end of August and it is believed that the ones who departed the City Ground will get their delayed bonuses then.

So far it has been a quiet transfer window for Steve Cooper's side. Six players have left on free transfers while the only incomings have been Anthony Elanga, Newcastle striker Chris Wood - a deal which was made permanent as part of his loan deal - and Torino right-back Ola Aina.

Forest were beaten 5-0 by French side Stade Rennais in a behind-closed-doors friendly at St George’s Park on Wednesday night and face Eintracht Frankfurt in their final pre-season game on Saturday before starting their season away at Arsenal.
