Norwich City have rejected two bids for Max Aarons from Barcelona, according to reports.

Aarons was one of the few positives from a miserable Premier League campaign for Norwich last season, which ended in relegation with the Canaries picking up just 21 points and finishing rock bottom.

The right-back broke into the England U21 squad off the back of his form last season and also attracted the attention of some of Europe’a super clubs, including Barcelona and the team who put eight past them not too long ago, Bayern Munich.

One of the bids from Barcelona, as per The Athletic’s David Ornstein, could have been worth £20 million plus bonuses, while other reports suggest the Spanish club also submitted a loan bid.

Barça remain on the search for a new right-back, hoping to sign Sergino Dest from Ajax, and will look to sell Nelson Semedo to raise funds. Semedo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has said the player has received offers from the Premier League, with some reports claiming Wolves are the interested party.

And Wolves would make perfect sense after all, given their growing Portuguese contingent, Mendes’ connections to the club and their lack of a proper right wing-back following the departure of Matt Doherty to Tottenham – also represented by Mendes.
