Leicester City are through to the Champions League quarter finals.

Three weeks on from their 2-1 first leg defeat away at Sevilla – a game which proved to be Claudio Ranieri’s last in charge – goals from Wes Morgan and Marc Albrighton were enough to see the English champions defeat the Spanish side.

It was undoubtedly one of the better nights of an otherwise disappointing season for Leicester, who many were tipping for relegation before Craig Shakespeare took charge of the club following Ranieri’s controversial exit.

Many have suggested that the departure of N’Golo Kante to table-topping Chelsea has been a significant factor in Leicester’s difficult season. In leaving for Stamford Bridge, the French midfielder missed out on European football for a season. But following the final whistle on Tuesday night, cameras picked out Kante in the King Power stands, grinning from ear to ear after his former teammates sealed a safe passage to the last eight of Europe’s premier cup competition.
