“Neymar is a traitor for moving,” says Barca fan who wants Coutinho to demand Liverpool exit

Describing it as the 21st century’s greatest act of betrayal, a Barcelona fan who wants Philippe Coutinho to demand a move from Liverpool has labelled Neymar a “traitor”.

Taking time out from personally tweeting the Reds star and urging him to hand in a transfer request, Barca supporter Reilly Branch claimed that he felt personally betrayed by Neymar’s decision to turn his back on the club which had provided him with so much.

Neymar, who has been with the La Liga side since joining from Santos in 2013, is reportedly on the verge of a world record-breaking transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, and is expected to sign a deal with the Parisian side before the transfer window closes.

“He thinks he can just up and leave?”

However, 22-year-old Yeovil native Branch, who changed his Twitter username to CoutinhoLogicFCB three weeks ago, believes that Neymar should be ashamed of himself for taking an offer of more money at another club.

“Neymar is a traitor and a disgrace. This club of ours – this historic club – has done so much for him and he thinks he can just up and leave? It’s a travesty. It just goes to show you what an absolute mess modern football is. There’s no loyalty or honour at all,” said the man who switched to supporting Barcelona in 2015 after 11 years as an Arsenal fan.

The student, who believes that Coutinho should “do all that it takes” to force a move from Anfield, revealed that he is especially hurt that Neymar has taken it upon himself to force a move from the Camp Nou.

“This is what upsets me more than anything. He won’t just sit down with the club, or Messi or the manager, and have a discussion,” he added, before creating a fake journalist account on Twitter in the hope Coutinho might follow him back and discuss his departure from the club.

“He instead listens to the negative influences in his life – people who should have no right to tell him what to do – and takes their advice.”
