Newcastle fans call for McClaren’s head after humiliating defeat

You know it's bad when Moyes is mentioned...

Steve McClaren asked Newcastle fans to judge him after 12 games. Well, he’s had more than that and the Magpies are still in the bottom three.

The former England boss has struggled to turn things around after a slow start, and a 5-1 humbling at Crystal Palace was the final straw for many fans.

There had already been criticism of McClaren for leaving out striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who stayed on the bench the whole game, but the main problems were clearly in defence.

And to be fair, he’s not the only Newcastle manager in recent years to earn the wrath of the St James’ Park faithful.

But the writing was on the wall already for the 54-year-old, and even supporters of other clubs believe his time is up.

Even a former player had his say – when that happens you know things aren’t looking great.

Newcastle are two points adrift of Premier League safety after neighbours Sunderland won 2-0 against Stoke.

Many fans will hope the club makes a change before it’s too late.
