A documentary series showcasing one of the best-known father-and-son duos in sports history is coming to Netflix.
Promoter Barry Hearn and his son Eddie will take viewers behind the scenes of their Essex-based Matchroom operation.
A spokesperson for Netflix UK and Ireland wrote on X: “The documentary series will dive into the drama of the family empire that has become synonymous with British sporting culture.”
Barry founded Matchroom Sport in 1982 and his son is now the chairman of the company.
The company is best known for its boxing business having promoted fights for British former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua.
However, Matchroom Sport is also the leading promoter in darts and snooker as well as having an interest in netball, gymnastics and fishing.
Eddie Hearn said of the series: “This is a game changer. For the first time ever, we have provided access-all-areas to a film crew to give fans an unprecedented glimpse at what goes on behind the scenes to power the Matchroom machine.
“We want to push storytelling to new heights across boxing, darts, snooker and multi-sports, so we are delighted to partner with a production powerhouse in Box to Box.
“In our continued pursuit for global domination in the sporting world, we cannot wait for an international audience to watch this exclusive series on Netflix.”
Box to Box are the creators of the highly successful Drive To Survive which brought a whole new audience to Formula 1.
Matchroom Sport has sponsored Brentwood Town FC since 2023 and 76-year-old Barry holds a minority share in the club.
At the time he said: “It's sometimes nice to just remember where you came from, and to put a little bit back.”
Meanwhile, Eddie has always spoken about his passion for grassroots sport and the importance in investing in amateur clubs.
Details of when the series will air are yet to be released.
