Nemanja Vidic definitely won’t be playing for Manchester United again

In his time at Old Trafford, Nemanja Vidic established himself as one of the finest defenders in the club’s history and a firm fans’ favourite.

After joining the club ten years ago, the Serbian left for Inter Milan shortly after the end of David Moyes’ disastrous stint as manager in 2014.

Things haven’t gone too well for Vidic over in Italy, and it was recently announced he had left Inter with his contract being terminated.

Reports suggested he may have returned to United as back up for their current defence, whilst he was also linked with a move to relegation-threatened Aston Villa.

However, the 34-year-old defender has confirmed he won’t be playing in England – or anywhere for that matter – by announcing his retirement from the sport.

“The time has come for me to hang up my boots,” he said. “The injuries I have had in the last few years have taken their toll.”

“I would like to thank all the players I have played with, all the managers and staff I have worked with, and say a big ‘thank you’ to the fans for their support over the years.”
