Nabil Fekir’s move to Liverpool could be back on… again

Simon Lloyd

Ah, here we go again…

There we were, naively thinking we’d heard the last of all that talk of Nabil Fekir moving to Liverpool this summer. We were wrong. Very wrong.

The French international – not that any of us need reminding – seemed on the cusp of completing a move to Anfield from Lyon prior to the World Cup, only for the transfer to collapse with an announcement seemingly imminent.

Despite this, it might be back on again…

L’Equipe claim Fekir could finally be allowed to leave Lyon should the Ligue 1 side receive what they deem a satisfactory offer. This, it’s believed, would be somewhere north of £60m. Taking this into consideration, The Mirror report that Liverpool could be poised to make one final push to land the 25-year-old ahead of the close of the transfer window.

Following the breakdown of the transfer in June, Fekir’s agent told French TV that his move to Merseyside could yet be resurrected. Clearly, things had reached an advanced stage – leaked images even showing the player conducting interviews with Liverpool’s in-house media channels.

With all this in mind, it’s possible that – even at this late stage in the window – a move could still happen should Liverpool decide to meet Lyon’s reported asking price.

Either way, file this one under ‘transfer saga’.
