The comparisons have intensified throughout the Egyptian’s debut season at Anfield

Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah has openly discussed being compared to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi during an interview prior to the weekend’s Champions League final.

The former AS Roma man has enjoyed a spectacular season at Anfield since moving from the Olympic Stadium, scoring a total of 44 goals in 51 appearances, and 32 goals in just 36 Premier League games.

That form has prompted pundits and fans alike to compare the 25-year-old to the world’s best, the most recent being Brazil legend Ronaldo, who told El Partidazo de COPE:

“Salah, I love him. He is an incredible player with a tremendous quality. He looks like Messi. I recently read him saying that I had been his inspiration and I was excited.”

And ahead of the biggest match in European football- where he will face off directly against Cristiano Ronaldo – the Egyptian has addressed the comparisons, without saying exactly how he feels about them:

“I said before that Ronaldo and Messi are top level players, who are consistent. I aim to be consistent with my level, too. As Ronaldo said, he plays with his right foot, I play with my left. We will both be focused when we meet in the (Champions League) final. We both want to win this title. I want to help my team and we will play to win.”
