‘I think he will coach Arsenal in the future’

Mohamed Elneny has been touted to become a future manager for Arsenal once his playing days are over, according to his father.

Elneny had initially been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer but the 30-year-old penned a new one-year deal, with an option to extend a further year.

While the midfielder’s career isn’t close to ending any time soon, Elneny’s father admitted he knew that he would stay at the club.

He also believes his son has what it takes to succeed as a manager in the future and even predicted that he will one day be in the Gunners’ dugout.

Speaking to MBC Egypt his father, Nasser, said: “I was sure that Elneny would continue with Arsenal, and I told him that, even though everyone in Egypt was saying that he would leave the team this summer.

“The Arsenal players love Elneny, he is loved among his colleagues in the dressing room, and the club’s management loves him, so I think he will coach Arsenal in the future.”

Nasser continued and even highlighted his son in the same bracket as Liverpool winger and Egypt captain Mohamed Salah, praising them both for their impact in the Premier League, describing Salah as the “best player in the world.”

“I tell Elneny that I am proud of you, you made me hold my head, whether because of your performance with the Egyptian national team, or with Arsenal,” he added.

“I do not think that there is a player who was able to play in Arsenal for 8 seasons, and I say to Mohamed Salah that you are the best player in the world and the pride of Egypt.”
