Mikael Lustig is in the bad books after use of the C-Word against Italy

That language is not welcome in the Lustig house

Emotion got the best of Mikael Lustig this week.

Lustig was a part of a Sweden back four which held out Italy on Monday evening and denied them a place in the World Cup for the first time since 1958.

The 0-0 draw at the San Siro was a feisty affair and after the home fans booed the Swedish national anthem, Lustig furiously branded them “fucking cunts.”

The cameras picked up the Celtic defender’s foul language and Lustig definitely got an earful when he got home as wife, Josefin Lustig, has hit out at the player’s use of that particular phrase.

“Some may have seen that Micke used a gender word after the national anthem before the match,” Josefin wrote on her blog, via the Scottish Sun.

“Were Micke’s words something I support? No.

“Is that a word that he or someone else in our family usually uses? Absolutely not.

“I have obviously talked about this with my husband. He says that it was an incredibly stupid word choice.

“But in the heat of the moment it happens that you say things without thinking. We all probably do that.”

It’s understandable for players to be annoyed by groups of supporters booing a national anthem but Gianluigi Buffon showed his matchless class in that moment by making a point of loudly applauding while the Swedish national anthem rang out.
