Michy Batshuayi hammers Chelsea who ‘hardly’ played him

He struggled to hit a run of form at Chelsea

He’s hit the ground running at Dortmund

Michy Batshuayi might have scored the goal that sealed the Premier League title returned to Stamford Bridge at the end of last season, but aside from that moment of glory, he struggled to get going at Chelsea.

The Belgian striker was always back up to Diego Costa last season and behind Álvaro Morata this season before he was loaned to Borussia Dortmund in January as part of a transfer triangle that saw Olivier Giroud move to Chelsea and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang go to Arsenal.

In his first 11 games at Borussia Dortmund, he has bagged eight goals and looks a different player to the one who looked devoid of confidence at Chelsea.

Speaking to HLN, Batshuayi opened up about his turbulent time at Chelsea, and how the loan move has benefitted him.

“I hardly played at Chelsea, so it’s nice to be important again now. Do you know what it is: I am just warmly welcomed at Dortmund – I immediately got love. Then you are automatically better”, Batshuayi said.

He was reluctant to speak about his future, saying: “I do not want to talk about that. And neither about Chelsea. Maybe later.”

But one would assume he would happily stay at Dortmund, where he seems to have settled, rather than fight for a place at Chelsea again.
