Is Michael Owen for real?
It was all doom and gloom in the BT Sport studio after Man United were dumped out of the Champions League following their 3-2 defeat to Wolfsburg.
Gary Lineker was joined by former reds Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes and Michael Owen as they glumly picked the bones out of a woeful European campaign.
As far as United’s domestic campaign is concerned, Scholes admitted it was something of a lottery in terms of where they would finish.
“You wouldn’t be surprised if they won the league, you wouldn’t be surprised if they come sixth or seventh…” he admitted.
But then Owen responded with this ridiculous statement…
“Surely that’s only papering over the cracks – even if they win the league…”
Yes Michael. Winning the Premier League is just a consolation prize.
