Michael Bisping has just secured a huge bout against arguably the greatest fighter ever

This is massive for the British fighter...

Arguably the greatest fighter ever finally has an opponent.

It was a fight that has been rumoured even before Georges St-Pierre’s contract got ironed out, but it had yet to be confirmed.

UFC president Dana White made it official on ESPN’s Sports Center on Wednesday –  UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping will be tasked with the challenge of welcoming the former welterweight champion back to the Octagon.

The date has yet to be decided, but the 185 lb belt will be on the line, as GSP aims to follow in the footsteps of BJ Penn, Randy Couture and Conor McGregor and join the elite club of fighters to have held titles in multiple divisions in the UFC.

GSP holds a 25-2 record and has never suffered a loss that he hasn’t sought revenge for in a rematch. His incredible collection of scalps includes BJ Penn, Nick Diaz, Carlos Condit, Johny Hendricks and Matt Hughes, to name but a few. He took a hiatus from the sport after successfully defending his belt against Hendricks at UFC 167. The fight against Bisping will mark his middleweight debut.

Bisping has a real chance to add to his legacy with this fight. Having already defeated Anderson Silva at UFC London, he now has the opportunity to beat the other fighter that’s always in the greatest of all time discussions. We last saw Bisping defend his belt against legendary fighter Dan Henderson at UFC Manchester.

One must feel for Yoel Romero. The ‘Soldier of God’ is the clear number one contender after racking up eight straight wins culminating in a ferocious flying knee knockout of Chris Weidman at UFC 205.
