Mercedes don't appear to be giving up just yet

Mercedes have lodged an intention to appeal the verdict of the second protest dismissal, which relates to the Safety Car protocol. The appeal relates to the second original protest, which refers to the decision to allow the lapped cars to be overtaken, which ultimately played a significant role in Verstappen - who was racing on new tyres - being able to overtake the Brit and win his first world championship.

Officials said other rules gave Masi the power to act as he did.

The case will now go to FIA's court of appeal and Mercedes have 96 hours to make submission - where they can decide if they wish to take it any further. https://twitter.com/MercedesAMGF1/status/1470112011833024520 There is a cut-off for the appeal to be made and it would have to be submitted before Thursday, which is the FIA Prize Giving ceremony where the trophy is handed over to the world champion.
