Mauro Icardi linked with surprise move to David Beckham’s Miami MLS franchise

Icardi’s future could lie in the US

Mauro Icardi could be poised for a move to Major League Soccer having been reportedly approached by David Beckham.

Beckham’s MLS side, Inter Miami, are due to launch in 2020, and a report from Argentine outlet, Télam, claim the England captain is keen to add the striker to his ranks.

Icardi managed 18 goals during last season for Inter Milan but has constantly been linked with moves away from the Nerazzurri in recent months after being stripped of the club captaincy in February.

Though some reports have claimed he may seal a transfer to another Serie A club – Juventus and Napoli have both been mentioned – nothing resembling serious interest has materialised as of yet.

Icardi does, however, look increasingly likely to leave Inter at some point in the coming weeks.

Speculation linking Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku is ongoing, increasing after the Belgian international recently made no secret of his admiration for newly appointed Inter boss, Antonio Conte.

Though Wayne Rooney, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and a number of high-profile players currently ply their trade in MLS, they are all in their thirties. For Icardi – still just 26 – to decide to make the move in what would be considered by many to be his prime, would be a surprise.
