Mason Greenwood's Manchester United future has reportedly been handed a major boost following secret talks with the club's chief sponsor Adidas.
Having not played in over 17 months, the 21-year-old is still awaiting the verdict of an internal investigation following allegations of rape and assault being made against him.
Subsequently suspended from the club, Greenwood has been unable to line out for the Red Devils or train at their Carrington base with the rest of Erik Ten Hag's squad.
The Crown Prosecution Service have dropped all charges against Greenwood, with recent reports suggesting that a loan move to Serie A side Atalanta is a possibility.
United are reportedly keen on securing the services of the Italian side's Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund, with Atalanta keen on securing Greenwood's services in return.
But now it appears the attacker could stay in Manchester this season, with the Sun reporting that Adidas have given the green light to his return.
The report stated that the German kit manufacturer doesn't view Greenwood's return as an "insurmountable obstacle" and that they would not be "fiercely opposed" to his reintegration.
Adidas pay Man United £75 million per season, having agreed to a 10-year deal in 2015 to supply their kit for the following decade.
The one-time capped England international has also recently been pictured keeping fit with former teammate Anthony Elanga, who just recently left Old Trafford for Nottingham Forest.
It is also believed that the majority of United's squad would welcome Greenwood back into the fold, should Erik Ten Hag and the club's hierarchy make that call.
