Fellaini has scored his first goal since leaving Old Trafford

Former Manchester United legend player Marouane Fellaini is up and running in China.

The Belgium international left United for Shandong Luneng earlier in the year, bringing to a close his six-and-a-half-year stay at Old Trafford.

Finally making his debut for his new club against Beijing Renhe on Friday, the 31-year-old ended up scoring the winning goal.

With five minutes played of the second half, Fellaini received the ball inside the opposition penalty area with his back to goal. Taking a touch to control what appeared to be a mis-hit shot from a teammate, he was able to turn and fire home the only goal of the game in the Chinese Super League opener.

Fellaini’s move to China saw him become one of the highest earning footballer on the planet, with some reports claiming his deal is worth around £18m a year.

Without Fellaini, his former club have seen a resurgence in form under caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. They remain unbeaten domestically, their latest victory coming as an injury hit United side recorded a 3-1 win at Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

Their win at Selhurst Park was their eighth consecutive victory away from home – a new club record.
