Marouane Fellaini reportedly in talks to leave Manchester United

Dry your eyes, United fans

Simon Lloyd

These are uncertain times for Manchester United.

As their Premier League campaign ends with a whimper, their fondness for drawing games means their Champions League fate rests almost entirely on a penalty shoot-out against Ajax in next week’s Europa League final.

And, as if all this isn’t stressful enough for United’s supporters, now comes the news that Marouane Fellaini, their brave, afroed prince, might be thrusting his elbows into the faces of opponents and slightly mis-hitting simple sideways passes elsewhere next season.

Now 29, Fellaini, the man that was booed by some of United’s loyal  ‘supporters’ after giving away a late penalty at Everton earlier in the season, could be on the move.

In the final year of his contract, United know that the Belgian midfielder could leave the club for nothing in a year’s time. As a result, they may be open to offers for the former Everton player.

News from Turkey claims that Trabzonspor – that other Turkish club that aren’t Galatasaray, Fenerbahce or Besiktas –  are interested in him.  Tavkim go as far as suggesting that Fellaini could be one of the players in contact with the club’s president, Muharrem Usta, who is said to be keen on bringing in some high profile players this summer.

Should Fellaini leave, Jose Mourinho will almost certainly be on the look out for another midfielder. Some United fans will be after a new scapegoat.
