Mark Lawrenson said a pretty disgraceful thing about French people when Giroud scored…

Robert Redmond

Mark Lawrenson was on classic form on Tuesday as he covered Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Bayern Munich for Irish TV station TV3.

As well as being his usual moany self during his co-commentary duties, the BBC pundit made an utterly stupid remark about striker Olivier Giroud.

The former Liverpool defender was heard saying: “But he’s French so he’ll have a big nose, won’t he?”

It may have been ignored by his colleague, but Twitter doesn’t miss a beat, and plenty of people picked up on Lawrenson’s faux pas.
