England striker Marcus Rashford will be given the opportunity to build on his two goals in the FA Cup with a starting berth in the first leg of Manchester United’s EFL Cup semi-final against Hull City.

Anthony Martial, who was also among the goals in the victory over Reading, drops to the bench, with Rashford due to be flanked by Henrikh Mkhitaryan and captain Wayne Rooney in a team with seven changes from Sunday’s game.

David de Gea returns to the starting line-up after making way for Sergio Romero at the weekend, while Paul Pogba returns after also watching the weekend’s action from the bench.

Hull boss Marco Silva will take charge of only his second game as Tigers boss, following Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Swansea City.

Record signing Ryan Mason starts for the visitors, as does in-demand Scotland international Robert Snodgrass, while cup keeper Eldin Jakupovic gets the nod ahead of David Marshall.

The second leg of the tie will take place at the KCOM Stadium on January 26, with the winner poised to face either Liverpool or Southampton at Wembley in February.
