There were a lot of them, to be fair

Marc Cucurella has admitted that he didn’t know who one of Chelsea’s January signings were.

Chelsea were one of the most active clubs in the window, spending over £500m across the summer and January, bringing in high-profile targets such as Mykhailo Mudryk, Cucurella, Noni Madueke and more.

One of the more impressive signings has been the addition of Enzo Fernandez. A World Cup winner, Fernandez lit up the World Cup with his performances and has upped the level of quality in the middle of the park for the Blues.

Fernandez was duly awarded the Young Player of the Tournament award to go alongside his winners’ medal before making the £104m switch on deadline day.

But during an interview with Portuguese outlet Cabine Desportiva, the full-back said that he had to find out who his new teammate was.

“I was watching Argentina in the World Cup, and I think I said ‘I really like (number) 24, he’s very good,” he said.

“I didn’t even know where he played – I had to go look it up on my mobile phone.”

Since joining, the 22-year-old has started evert game for the Blues, winning three, drawing three and losing three since becoming a part of Graham Potter’s side.

Cucurella meanwhile has lost his place in the starting XI in recent weeks following the return of Ben Chilwell, who has reclaimed his role as the left wing-back in the side,

The Spaniard joined from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer in a deal worth more than £60m.
