Transfer drama is never dull at Chelsea
Chelsea are preparing for another busy summer of transfers with a mass clear out expected at Stamford Bridge.
According to The Telegraph, co-owner Todd Boehly wants to get rid of any first-team players that won’t commit to a minimum two-year contract.
The likes of Mateo Kovačić, Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, César Azpilicueta and Thiago Silva all have contracts that expire in 2024 and their future could be at risk if they don’t sign new terms.
N’Golo Kanté may also be affected – with his contract expiring at the end of the season – while Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell, Conor Gallagher, Edouard Mendy, Hakim Ziyech and Kepa Arrizabalaga are also reportedly on the list.
It’s unlikely that all 14 players will be sold in one go, however some of the players have already been linked with moves away from west London.
Academy graduate Mount is one of those amid rumours that Liverpool and Manchester City are both interested in signing the Chelsea international.
Man City are also said to be eyeing up Kovačić whereas AC Milan are keeping tabs on Loftus-Cheek.
Wesley Fofana’s second half header gave Graham Potter’s side a much-ndeeded three points against Leeds United on Saturday.
Fofana, making his first league start since October, rose highest to nod home his first goal for the club and Chelsea’s first in over 300 minutes.
They still remain 10th and face an almighty task in order to qualify for any form of European football.
