A deal for the midfielder is expected to go through today

Manchester United target Fred has been spotted at the club’s Carrington training ground ahead of a proposed move to Old Trafford.

The Brazilian international is reportedly undergoing a medical with the club before the completion of his move from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, which is expected to cost £52 million.

He played as a substitute for Brazil over the weekend during their 2-0 win against Croatia at Anfield, and his national team manager Tite has urged his players to finalise all prospective transfer deals prior to this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

The 25-year-old has spent five years at Shakhtar, after joining from Brazilian side Internacional, and was previously linked with a move to United’s Premier League rivals Manchester City.

That deal never materialised however and it is increasingly likely that he will become Manchester United’s first signing of the summer.

Jose Mourinho’s side finished 19 points behind Pep Guardiola’s side last season, and the manager is likely to strengthen his side extensively ahead of a season in which they are expected to challenge more competitively.

The Old Trafford have also been linked with a move for FC Porto youngster Diogo Dalot, who has impressed for the Portuguese side despite playing little first team football.
