Manchester United are bringing a classic kit look back next season

Manchester United are struggling to bring back the glory days on the pitch, but at least they'll *look* like a Fergie-era team next season with this new kit

Manchester United may be struggling to find any semblance of consistent form on the pitch under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season, but at the very least they’ll look good doing it next time around. That’s because the 2021/22 kit will have a distinctly retro vibe to it. Who knows – they’ve tried everything else, so perhaps looking like a Fergie-era team might bring the glory days back to Old Trafford.

The football fashion gurus over at FootyHeadlines have revealed that adidas will create an “absolute modern classic” for next year’s change kit, which will hark back to the nineties. According to the leaked info, the forthcoming kit is a “reimagining of one of the most iconic Manchester United third jerseys of all times”.

The jersey in question was pretty controversial at the time but has since become something of a fan favourite. An arresting shade of blue, covered in a distressed grungy black design incorporating a huge off-centre club badge, it was worn during the 1992/93 season. Now it seems adidas are harking back to those glory days with their new design…even though it was made by rivals Umbro.

The shade of the kit is described as ‘glory blue’ and it will incorporate a two-tone adidas logo, in-keeping with the whole 1990s look.
