Manchester United hit as Valencia suffers long-term injury blow

Manchester United are already light at the back, so they could really have done without any more injury woes.

But the club will now have to cope without Antonio Valencia for five months, with the Sun reporting that the Ecuadorian is likely to need surgery on a foot injury.

New signing Matteo Darmian has impressed since arriving from Torino, making the right-back slot his own, but Valencia offers a different option in the position.

United are already without Luke Shaw for a number of months, and resorted to handing a debut to young defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson in their 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion.
