After over two decades at the club, John Terry will leave Chelsea at the end of the season.
Despite being offered a one-year deal at the end of last season, Terry has hardly featured during Antonio Conte's first season at Stamford Bridge, and his decision to leave has hardly come as a surprise.
With Chelsea supporters looking back fondly on his 22 years with the club, the news of his departure has also prompted Manchester United supporters to pay their thanks to the defender.
Somewhat predictably, United fans have used it as an opportunity to bring up Terry's infamous penalty shoot-out slip in the 2008 Champions League final.
Cristiano Ronaldo had put United ahead in Moscow's Luzhniki that night, only for Frank Lampard to level things before half-time. Despite good chances for both sides, there were no more goals and the shoot-out was settled by spot kicks.
With Petr Cech saving Ronaldo's penalty, Terry had the opportunity to win the cup for Chelsea. He slipped, and in doing so struck the outside of the post. United went on to win the game after Nicolas Anelka had his penalty saved by Edwin Van der Sar.
