It went down well with the home support

Manchester United fans’ chant during Thursday night’s game really hit home

West Ham United welcomed Manchester United to the London Stadium for a Premier League clash on Thursday night. Two years ago, the Hammers would have likely provided a stirring atmosphere for the clash. However, this time, it was the Red Devils supporters who were responsible for the atmosphere in the first half.

It’s no secret that West Ham fans aren’t a fan of the stadium they have called home for the last couple of years. They just haven’t been able to replicate Upton Park’s atmosphere. The change in surroundings has been received so poorly that the club’s dip in form has often been attributed to it.

No matter how much time has passed, the fans just can’t seem to get behind the controversial ground. The club knows it, the board knows it, their fans know it and of course, rival fans know about it all too well.

During the first half of the Premier League match in London Stadium, United fans even addressed it. The goalless 45 allowed them to get creative with their chants. So they stepped up to the plate and were heard chanting, ‘It’s the worst fucking ground we’ve ever seen.’

Unsurprisingly, some Hammers appreciated the chorus. Some fans wearing claret and sky blue were seen applauding the chant in the stands.

United fans continued by singing, ‘You’re not West Ham anymore.’

We get the feeling a lot of Hammers would agree with that sentiment as well.
