Manchester United fans are really not happy with the starting XI for tonight’s EFL Cup tie

Rooney up front?

It looks like Jose Mourinho’s sending out a second-string team for their EFL third round clash against Northampton.

It’s only the cup, but that hasn’t stopped fans from taking to social media to voice their fury over the Special One’s not-so-special starting XI.

Manchester United are currently in somewhat of a slump, having lost their last three matches in a row – each one holding a certain level of embarrassment considering they were losses to local rivals Manchester City, Dutch side Feyenoord in the Europa League and – perhaps worst of all – their first defeat to Watford in 30 years.

With a trip to Northampton in the EFL Cup, United can afford no mistakes and so fans aren’t too pleased with the team selection. There are two players in particular with surnames beginning with “R” in the team and they’re inclusion seem to be cause of most of the anger among Red Devils supporters.

Have a scan through that team and see if you can guess.

That’s right! Everyone hates Sergio Romero.

Oh no, wait, that isn’t correct at all. Marcos Rojo is one of the players everybody hates, and boy do they not mind letting their hatred of him be known to the world.

Wayne Rooney’s presence was noted too… in the worst way possible.
