Manchester United ‘enter talks’ with Antoine Griezmann

With plenty of criticism for Wayne Rooney’s showing in the Manchester derby, it’s unsurprising to see reports linking Louis van Gaal with moves for attacking reinforcements.

The Manchester United manager’s spending at Old Trafford could climb past the £300m mark with the revival of a move for long-time target Antoine Griezmann.

This time the report comes from Spain, with Fichajes stating that the Dutchman has already entered talks with French forward Griezmann, who is said to be keen on moving on from Atletico Madrid in order to join a ‘big club’.

It’s not the first time the 24-year-old has been linked with a move to United. There was speculation late in the summer transfer window, and his brother didn’t help matters with this tweet.

Acquiring Griezmann won’t be straightforward, as he reportedly has a buyout clause worth around £60m.

But given Van Gaal’s free-spending reputation so far, the former Bayern boss is unlikely to be put off by the asking price if he really does fancy a move for the player.
