United can expect a fine

Both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have been charged by Uefa for the behaviour of some fans who attended Tuesday night’s Champions League tie at Old Trafford.

United have been charged with blocking stairways and throwing objects, while PSG have been charged with setting off fireworks, throwing objects, acts of damage and crowd disturbance, according to the Press Association.

A large umber of PSG’s ultras travelled up to Manchester for the game, making their presence known early in the town centre.

During the match, the group were always in voice, creating an atmosphere with a constantly beating drum. But it seems some fans in attendance took things overboard, causing disturbance in the crowd.

A beer bottle was also thrown from the home end in the direction of PSG winger Angel Di Maria, who used to play for United and was subjected to boos for the majority of the evening.

Upon seeing the object thrown at him, the Argentine picked up the bottle pretended to drink from it.

United an expect to receive a fine when Uefa deal with the case on February 28.
