Manchester United's former boss and their current boss came together ahead of the club's Champions League clash with Barcelona
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed he received advice from Sir Alex Ferguson ahead of Manchester United's Champions League quarter-final tie with Barcelona on Wednesday.
The game follows Ole's side making a Ferguson-esque comeback against PSG in the Champions League round of 16, after a late Rashford penalty. But Barcelona arguably present an even tougher challenge for the Norweigan.
The clubs met eight times during Ferguson's time, including in two finals and the 2007/08 semi-final.
"Of course I've spoken with the gaffer since the draw was made but no details," Solskjaer said of Ferguson ahead of the last-eight tie.
"I think all my experiences and over the years with Barcelona, watching and admiring the team, the quality they've got you look at what you'll do against them and we're ready."
Solskjaer himself played under Ferguson against the Catalan side, including on route to their famous victory in the 98/99 competition.
The Norweigan played 55 minutes of the two sides' 3-3 draw at Old Trafford in 1998 but didn't feature in the return leg at the Nou Camp.
Of that match, Solskjaer said: "I think there’s two teams that carry a goal threat. There’s some fantastic attacking players on display."
"We drew 3-3 away as well, if we can get a 6-6 and penalties at the Nou Camp I think everyone will be happy.
"I wouldn’t say that these teams don’t score goals, both teams have it in them to score. We know we have to defend well against them."
