Edinson Cavani has agreed a two year deal with Manchester United, according to Moises Llorens of ESPN in Spain. https://twitter.com/moillorens/status/1312441570835062786 His report claims an agreement was found between the free agent and the club on Saturday afternoon, Cavani will travel from to Manchester to Paris to undergo a medical and, barring any hiccups, an announcement will be made on Monday. Cavani will become United's second signing of the summer after Donny Van De Beek joined from Ajax, as they look to add depth to their front line in the form of an orthodox number 9. Cavani became a free agent in the summer before the 2019/20 season had ended due to the mid-season hiatus caused by the coronavirus pandemic, and was therefore absent from Paris Saint-Germain's run to the Champions League final in August. He has been closely linked with moves to Benfica and Atlético Madrid but neither club signed the Uruguayan, presumably due to his high wage demands. Atlético ended up signing his compatriot Luis Suarez, leaving Cavani without a club. But United have now won the race to sign the Uruguayan and will sign the player on a two year contract. It was reported earlier on Saturday that Cavani's agents were demanding a longer deal for their client, but it would appear that given Cavani's grand old age of 33, United refused to sign any deal that would keep him at the club beyond the age of 35.
