Norwegian newspaper Telemarksavisa report that Manchester United have made a move to sign 17-year-old Norwegian wonderkid Rafik Zekhnini.

According to the publication, United have made a €3m bid for the player who starred for Odds BK against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa Cup this week.

Mats Hummels was suitably impressed with the youngster, and was somewhat taken aback when told he was only a 17-year-old.

Zekhnini had an absolute stormer against the Germans, but was ultimately on the losing side as Odds lost to the odd goal in seven.

The youngster is the rising star of the Norwegian league, and Odd manager Dag-Eilev Fagermo has even suggested he’s better than Real Madrid’s Martin Ødegaard.

“I think Rafik Zekhnini has greater potential than Martin Ødegaard,” states Fagermo. “Ødegaard of course has amazing skills and a better passing game, but the pressure and speed of Rafik Zekhnini is extreme.”

The player himself has made his ambitions (and allegiances) clear: “The dream is to play abroad one day and my favourite club is Manchester United.”

With goals like this, it’s easy to see why Manchester United are eager to snaffle the youngster…
