Lacklustre performances have led to links to other managers.
Manchester United are reportedly ‘lining up’ a potential replacement for Erik ten Hag, as per a breaking report.
The Red Devils have fallen below standards as of late, losing 3-0 at home to Tottenham Hotspur, before dropping points at Porto.
Yesterday, a 0-0 draw at Aston Villa was seen as an improvement, but reports are still linking Ten Hag with a potential exit.
And now as per Manchester Evening News, Utd are reportedly lining up Thomas Tuchel as a potential replacement for the Dutchman.
Tuchel was previously of interest this summer to the club hierarchy, and he is still currently out of work having left Bayern Munich last summer.
The attraction to Tuchel is that he is immediately attainable, unlike candidates who are, despite admired, already attached to other clubs.
It’s reported that the Utd hierarchy will hold a meeting on London in Tuesday.
Ten Hag expects to hold discussions with the club in the coming days.
“So I don’t have any idea that is different,” Ten Hag said when questioned on his future at the club following the goalless draw at Aston Villa, “Because they should have told me. We communicate very open, very transparent.
“I speak continuously with them and just after the game I have to do my job, talk with the players, manage the players and answer questions from you. We always talk. Every week, I would say every day we talk, so I expect I will speak with them.”
Having won just three of their 11 matches this season, Utd have also had their worst start to a Premier League season after seven games ever.
The club sit 14th in the table.
When asked on Ten Hag’s position on Friday, co-chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe replied: “I don’t want to answer that question.”
