Man United have reached an agreement for the first major signing of the Ruben Amorim era.
Much has been rumoured in the January transfer window about Ruben Amorim reinforcing his squad and moulding the team to his own liking.
One of the most hotly spoken about topics was the wing-back position which is crucial to the Amorim system of playing football.
Of recent, Amorim has been playing right-back by trade, Diogo Dalot, in the left-wing position, to little satisfaction.
This led to the Portuguese manager highlighting the position as a key area for reinforcement, and now the manager has got his man.
United have been negotiating for Danish defender Patrick Dorgu since last week and have finally made a breakthrough.
As per a tweet by Fabrizio Romano, the 20-year-old playing for Lecce is set to sign for the Red Devils for a reported £25m with £4m in add-ons.
Romano wrote: "Patrick Dorgu to Manchester United, here we go! Verbal agreement in place with Lecce, documents to be checked in next 24h."
This signing will be the first official major signing of the Amorim era and United will be hoping he solves some of the problems the team are currently facing.
Dorgu is a versatile player, occupying the left-back role for Lecce and left wing-back for Denmark.
However, the 20-year-old has even been deployed on the right wing, proving himself extra valuable.
Dorgu has made 43 first-team appearances for Lecce having joined from Danish club Nordsjælland in 2022.
He has scored three times in Serie A this season.
The player has been keen on a move for a while now.
