Man United have their eye on Bournemouth’s star performer

Tom Victor

Bournemouth’s first Premier League season has been one of mixed emotions, with some early wins overshadowed by injuries to key players.

But throughout the recent poor run one player has put in some good performances – enough to catch the eye of Manchester United.

Scottish winger Matt Ritchie was one of the stars of Bournemouth’s promotion campaign last season, and has shown some quality at times this season for club and country.

And now Louis van Gaal is believed to be considering a move for the 26-year-old, according to the Sun.

Ritchie has scored twice in the league this season, a stunning volley against Sunderland and a first-minute opener in the defeat to Tottenham.

He has been one of the club’s better performers since injury robbed them of the likes of Callum Wilson, Max Gradel and Tyrone Mings.

United have relied on youth out wide for most of the campaign, with Jesse Lingard the latest name to get on the scoresheet from the wing, so Van Gaal may be keen to bring in a more experienced head.
