Man United have confirmed how much it really cost to sack Ruben Amorim

Amorim lost his place as Man United manager back in January.

The 2025/26 campaign was certainly a mixed bag for the Red Devils, who suffered a historic loss to Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup early on, before a further downturn in form saw then-head coach Ruben Amorim eventually depart in January of 2026, leading to the arrival of interim head coach Michael Carrick, who went on to lead the club back into Champions League qualification.

Announcing the numbers for the season was chief executive Omar Berrada, who said: "We are pleased to have secured record revenues, which demonstrates the underlying strength of our business, particularly in a season without European football. This shows the direct impact of the work we have been doing over the past two years.

"It also proves Manchester United's enduring popularity and commercial strength. While these results confirm that we are on the right trajectory, we will continue to take a disciplined approach to ensure our finances remain sustainable."

As previously mentioned, net losses are up from £33m last year to £43m this time around, an increase which the club are reported — by The Mail — to have put down, in part at least, to the financial cost of firing Ruben Amorim.

The departure of Amorim and his staff cost just £8.2 million, which is actually less than expected due to the fact that the Portuguese manager returned to work with AC Milan in June.
