Manchester United will reportedly ask for £50m in order to part ways with Harry Maguire this summer.
Maguire found his game time limited last season, making just 16 starts in all competitions, and slipped to fourth choice behind Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof, with Luke Shaw even occasionally preferred in the centre back role.
Maguire’s future has been up in the air and the 30-year-old has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford however the England international as been working hard to prove he is still a valuable member to the squad, training three times a day with Chelsea legend Ricardo Carvalho.
United are not actively looking to sell the defender but will listen to offers and according to the Manchester Evening News, have set an asking price of £50m - £30m less than what they paid for him in 2018.
Despite willingly accepting that they will make a loss on the 30-year-old, they may still find it hard to offload Maguire, with many clubs not willing to match the fee.
Earlier this year, England boss Gareth Southgate warned Maguire that a lack of game time at club level may cost him his place in the Three Lions starting XI in the build up to the 2024 European Championships.
Levi Colwill and Taylor Harwood-Bellis have been touted as two youngsters that can come in and challenge Maguire, who is a regular under Southgate, for his place in the squad.
Reports have also suggested that Maguire will be stripped of his role as club captain heading into the 2023/2024 campaign, with Bruno Fernandes in line to be his replacement.
