Man United fans are wishfully thinking there’s been a hint about Varane signing

Manchester United completed the world record signing of Paul Pogba late last night - but could they be about to follow it up with a deal for another top class international?

United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin tweeted a picture to welcome his France team-mate Pogba back to Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of the France international, having signed him for Real Madrid when he was manager there, declaring him "the best young central defender in the world" back in 2014. But the 23-year-old revealed in July that he was staying at the Bernabeu.

“I’ve spoken with Zidane and I’ve decided to stay. I feel loved by the club and the fans, they treat me as if I’d been here all my life… I want to give everything I possibly can. I feel the best is yet to come. In life you take decisions. I’m happy here and I want to stay here for a long time."

He added:

“I could never have imagined what I’ve achieved here, to have played so much and to have won so many trophies. I want to continue playing here; it’s an honour to wear the shirt."
