United’s midweek clash at Brentford is now in doubt
Manchester United have closed down their training ground due to a coronavirus outbreak within their squad.
The Athletic reported that the Red Devils made the decision to close their Carrington Training Complex and that they were in discussions with Premier League about Tuesday’s game at Brentford.
The training ground has been closed for 24 hours in order to minimise risk of any further infection, with the relevant individuals who tested positive now isolating.
United announced that – with the health of players and staff being the priority – they are now working with the Premier League to decide if it is safe for them to play against Brentford, ‘both from a Covid infection and player preparation perspective’.
They added: “Team and staff travel to London will be deferred pending the result of that discussion.”

It comes after United recorded a number of positive Covid-19 tests among players and staff after their 1-0 win at Norwich on Saturday evening.
The players and staff that tested positive were sent home, with training adjusted to individual and non-contact sessions.
Ralf Rangnick’s side are due to travel to the Brentford Community Stadium on Tuesday night (14 December), looking to continue their winning run under the interim manager.
