Several 'sources' have revealed Manchester City's most likely punishment should they lose their alleged 115 charges case starting this Monday.
City have started the Premier League season in fine fashion, beating the likes of Ipswich Town and West Ham United comfortably.
Erling Haaland has scored back-to-back hat-tricks and it's believed the four-time consecutive Premier League champions are still just warming up.
However, it was revealed earlier today that the hearing regarding the alleged 115 charges will start as soon as Monday.
Overseen by an independent panel, the hearing is due to last two months.
A final decision is therefore unlikely to be given until the end of the 2024/25 season.
The club claim that they have "irrefutable evidence" to defend the claims.
The Evening Standard have revealed the most likely punishment, should they lose their case.
Relegation to the Championship has been reported as one potential outcome, however it is seen to be less likely than other punishments.
"A more likely punishment is a significant points deduction and fine, in the event that the Premier League were able to prove a cross section of the charges," the report read.
Several sources have reportedly told the Evening Standard that a points deduction in the region of 30 could be given.
Removing titles is seen as 'remote' however.
The Daily Mail previously reported that the league could end up with a bill totalling 'tens of millions' even should they win the case.
City's owners remain adamant that they have done nothing wrong.
