Manchester City will not look to bring Italian playmaker Andrea Pirlo to the Etihad Stadium in January, according to reports.

The former Juventus midfielder has been linked with a move to City since signing with their sister club New York City FC in MLS. But The Manchester Evening News report that Manuel Pellegrini is happy with his midfield options of Yaya Toure, Fernando, Fernandinho and Fabian Delph in similar positions. Pellegrini brought in Chelsea's record goalscorer Frank Lampard on loan last season and it was believed that he may do a similar deal for Pirlo after New York City were eliminated from the MLS playoffs. Meanwhile, Pirlo's New York teammate and former Barcelona forward David Villa continues to be linked with a short-term loan to the Premier League leaders. GettyImages-466515548
