Majority of Chelsea fans wanted Mourinho to stay, polls find

Despite Chelsea’s abysmal record in the Premier League, the decision to part ways with Jose Mourinho has not received unanimous support.

The manager left the club by mutual consent, his second departure from Stamford Bridge, but it seems the majority of fans would have rather seen him given more time.

More than 7,000 people voted in JOE’s poll, with 56% saying Roman Abramovich made the wrong decision to let Mourinho go.

Meanwhile, football fan community Copa90 conducted a poll of its own, asking 5,000 Chelsea fans whether they agreed with the decision, and the results were eerily similar.

Some 58% of those to reply argued that Abramovich had made the wrong call.

Chelsea are unlikely to have appointed a successor to Mourinho before their Premier League meeting with Sunderland, though former caretaker boss Guus Hiddink is thought to be in talks over a return.
