One of Real Madrid's most important players has been ruled out for a period of as long as 10 months, according to expert Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Real Madrid have faced a tumultuous season of late, following the departure of Xabi Alonso in January, after just over 6 months in charge.
Although not quite the force they were a few years ago, Real Madrid can still boast some of the biggest names in world football, an advantage which interim head coach Alvaro Arbeloa will hope means they can make up the 4-point gap to La Liga leaders Barcelona.
Despite those league shortcomings, Los Blancos earned a spot in the Champions League round of 16 last week, overcoming Jose Mourinho's Benfica.
Real Madrid will have to compete for the remaining rounds of the tournament without one of their star attackers.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid's Brazilian winger Rodrygo has suffered a rupture to his ACL and faces up to 10 months out injured.
The 25-year-old has played for Los Blancos since 2019, playing just shy of 300 games for the Spanish giants.
He had also been expected to play a big part for Brazil at the World Cup this summer, where he would have reunited with former manager Carlo Ancelotti, but this is now out of the realms of possibility.
He will begin his recovery immediately and hope to make a return to football at some point in the 2026/27 season.
