Man United supporters have been left in shock today, following the news that one of the fanbase's best-loved players will leave the club at the end of the season.
The opening weeks of 2026 have been something of a whirlwind for the Red Devils.
In the last fortnight alone, the club’s men’s first team have been led by three different managers.
Under their first interim head coach, Darren Fletcher, Man United crashed out of the FA Cup at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion, meaning they will play just 40 competitive fixtures this season, their lowest total since 1915.
Only the shock sacking of Ruben Amorim however, will have surprised supporters as much as today's news that one of their most important players is set to leave Old Trafford in a matter of months.

Announced in a statement on the player's Instagram, Brazilian star Casemiro made clear that he would leave Old Trafford when his contract expires in the summer of 2026.
"Knowing when stages come to an end," Casemiro began.
"Knowing when to say goodbye when you feel that you will be remembered and respected forever," he added.
"Four months to give my all for this badge and for our goal.
"Eternal respect and affection for Manchester United and its wonderful fans.
"Forever [a] Red Devil," the statement concluded.
Casemiro has played for Man United since 2022, when he left Real Madrid for £60 million.
Winning 5 Champions League titles with Los Blancos, as well as FA and EFL cup crowns with the Red Devils, the 33-year-old will go down in history as one of the greatest midfielders in the game's modern era.
