Louis van Gaal provides a positive update on Luke Shaw’s fitness

When Luke Shaw suffered a horrendous injury in Manchester United's Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven, few were thinking about a comeback date.

It appeared Hector Moreno's tackle had ended the England man's season at the very least, and any contribution to Euro 2016 seemed very unlikely at best after a double leg-break was confirmed.. But now Shaw's club manager, Louis van Gaal, has offered some optimism on the international front by claiming the left-back has a 50-50 chance to make the tournament. "Like Roy Hodgson says maybe it is 50-50 because it is possible, but it is dependable on the rehabilitation and you can not say it now that he is going," Van Gaal said. “He is every day here, he has started his rehabilitation already but he has a long way to go. Now his progress is going quickly but at the end we know it will level off and at that point it is difficult to maintain your mentality. With Leighton Baines also injured at present, England will be hopeful that Shaw can add to his one tournament appearance, which came in the 0-0 draw with Costa Rica at the last World Cup.
