Salah wants to stay, but talks have broken down
Liverpool’s hopes of tying Mo Salah down to an extended deal at Anfield have reportedly been dealt a blow after talks broke down over the forward’s wage demands.
Although The Guardian report that Salah remains keen to stay with the club, he and his agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, knocked back Liverpool’s most recent offer and no further talks have been held since December.
The Egyptian’s current deal expires in 2023, which could force the club to consider cashing in on him if he does not accept the terms being offered.
Jurgen Klopp insisted during a press conference on Friday that the club had made a good offer to Salah but appeared relaxed about the issue.
“Mo expects this club to be ambitious,” Klopp told reporters. “We cannot do much more. It is Mo’s decision. It is all fine from my point of view.
“Nothing happened further, no signing or rejection. We just have to wait, there’s no rush.”
Following the press conference, Abbas tweeted seven laughing face emojis – a message interpreted by many as being a response to Klopp’s comments.

Salah swiftly established himself as a key player for Liverpool following his arrival from Roma in 2017. His prolific strike rate – which has seem him score 152 goals in 237 appearances – helping the club to Champions League glory in 2019 and a long-awaited Premier League success the following year.
Salah stressed at the start of the year that he was happy at Liverpool and that his future was very much down to the club.
“It’s in their hands,” he said. “They know what I want.”
