Liverpool youngster Ibe to commit international future to England

He could earn a call-up soon

He was one of the bright sparks in Liverpool’s defeat to Manchester United, and now Jordon Ibe has given England fans something to be excited about.

The teenage star is in the thoughts of Roy Hodgson, who has suggested the former Wycombe winger could be in line for a call-up soon, but until that happens he is still eligible for Nigeria.

But Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh appears to have given up hope of persuading Ibe to play for the African country.

With Ibe committing to the country he has represented at youth and under-21 level, another young Premier League talent may be convinced to make a decision on his international future.

Jack Grealish has been weighing up whether to opt for England or Ireland for some time, and Hodgson admitted to losing patience with the Aston Villa man’s indecision even before the 20-year-old scored his first Premier League goal.

Unlike Ibe, Irish under-21 star Grealish has not turned out in England colours at any level, so a decision to join Hodgson’s squad would represent a change in international allegiances.
