Liverpool players trying to rap is just as good as you’d expect

Klopp it like it's hot

Did the Anfield Rap teach them nothing?

If any football club ought to be asking their players to avoid rapping at all costs, it’s Liverpool.

Ever since that memorable couplet “Liverpool FC is hard as hell/United, Tottenham, Arsenal”, the Reds have been the only club in the country synonymous with the hip-hop and football.

You’d have thought they might have taken the hint when discovering that John Barnes was a better rapper at international than at club level. What? ‘World in Motion’ was a tune.

But if Istanbul taught us anything it’s that Liverpool never give up, and they’re committed to restoring rap’s reputation in footballing circles.

They’re marking the pre-season tour to the West Coast of the United States by getting a number of first-teamers involved, even if some of there hearts don’t seem to be in it.

We’re treated to Joe Allen’s ‘The Real Slim Shady’, Dejan Lovren’s (sorry, ‘DJ Lov-Ren’s’) ‘Nuthin’ But a G Thang’, and Christian Benteke’s enthusiastic rendition of California Love.

Just one thing, though, we’re worried about just how familiar Simon Mignolet is with Gangstas Paradise.

If you want to take your mind off it, here’s The Anfield Rap in full. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
